St Ives Harbour Enhancement and Preservation Project UK

Description of Project:
A review of harbour infrastructure and management practices was undertaken, through extensive community consultation, to identify strengths and weaknesses and areas requiring support. The project identified areas requiring funding that complied with Objective 1 funding from the EC, and other national possibilities for funding.

Services Provided:
Harbour development plans were assessed for their viability, and fisheries and non-fisheries sector usages were considered before proposing ways of increasing value-added in the harbour area, supporting sustainable management, specifying required infrastructure, and dealing with conflict management issues. Following workshops and stakeholder discussion, the project developed an overall vision, objectives, strategies to fulfil objectives, and specific actions to implement the proposed strategies.
