Description of Project:
Within the EU frawmework contract FWC SIEA 2018 – Lot 1: Sustainable management of natural resources and resilience, the consortium led by COWI in association with Acciona, CYE, Suez, and Poseidon supported the Rodrigues Regional Assembly (RRA) to work towards making Rodrigues the first ecological and sustainable island in the Indian Ocean by 2030 by promoting sustainable development in 3 key pillar sectors, namely; economic, environmental and social sectors.
The specific objectives of this consultancy assignment was to:
(i) review and update the 2009 SIDPR for a ten-year period spanning between 2023 to 2033, including the preparation of a short term costed Action Plan which will cover the eight priority sectors as well as preparation of a total of five Terms of References for further or updated studies in any of the eight identified key sectors, whereby a gap of data/information has been identified;
(ii) review and update the Tourism Development Plan for Rodrigues of 2001; and
(iii) review and update the Rodrigues Physical Development Strategy and Land Use Plan of 2010.
Services Provided:
The consultancy services were carried out by a team of 10 key experts. Among them, Poseidon was in charge of the blue economy one.
