Supervision mission for an IFAD-funded coastal community development project Indonesia

Description of Project:
The Coastal Community Development Project (CCDP) was approved at IFAD’s Executive Board in September 2012. The total project cost was an estimated US$43.2 million. The goal of the CCDP was reduction in poverty and enhanced, sustainable and replicable economic growth among the active poor in coastal and small island communities. The Project’s development objective is increased household incomes for families involved in fisheries and marine activities in poor coastal and small island communities. The Project had three investment components: (i) Community Empowerment, Development and Resource Management; (ii) District Support for Marine-Based Economic Development, with two sub-components: District-Level Investment and Capacity Building; and Market and Value Chain Support; and (iii) Project Management.

Services Provided:

Poseidon provided fisheries and evaluation expertise as part of a team to review the project’s performance towards the achieving the agreed objectives and results. In undertaking this assessment, the mission reviewed the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of project implementation and the overall progress made since the Project become effective in October 2012. Poseidon staff had special responsibility for reviewing the technical aspects related to fisheries/marine development including all activities linked to market, private sector and value chain development.
