Description of Project:
The aim of the study was to provide Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) with a clear description of the characteristics, activities, economic performances and role of smallscale coastal fisheries in Europe.

Services Provided:
The study was completed in two parts. The first part provided a typology of the EU small-scale coastal fisheries fleets based on cluster analysis techniques using SPSS. In the second part, the role of small scale fleets at a regional NUTS-2 leve was considered in terms of the regional income and empployment dependence on the fisheries, and the economic performance of the small-scale fleets.
