Description of Project:
The EU’s Aquaculture Assistance Mechanism (AAM) is an EU funded initiative to support the sustainable development of aquaculture across Member States by providing targeted assistance, expertise, and practical tools to address common barriers to growth. The AAM  focuses on improving governance, streamlining administrative and licensing processes, strengthening stakeholder engagement, and sharing best practice to enhance environmental, economic, and social performance within the aquaculture sector, in line with EU policy objectives.



Services Provided:

Poseidon is a partner within the consortium contracted to deliver the Mechanism, contributing its technical expertise alongside other organisations to support implementation of the EU’s strategic guidelines for sustainable aquaculture. As part of this consortium, Poseidon has delivered a number of important deliverables, including (i) a mid-term assessment of the 2021 Strategic guidelines for EU aquaculture (2021 – 2030), (ii) options for addressing challenges to bivalve aquaculture in the EU, (iii) a study on reporting obligations related to aquaculture by member states and the Commission and (iv) good husbandry guidance for meagre.
