Description of Project:
An independent assessment of the North Sea herring fishery was conducted to determine whether it met the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) principles and criteria for 'responsible management'.
Services Provided:
A Poseidon Director is a member of the Expert Adviser group supporting the application of the North Sea herring fishery to become certified as ‘sustainably managed’ under the Marine Stewardship Council scheme. He is particularly responsible for ensuring that the application is judged on the MSC Principle 2 e.g. that the fisheries is “managed from an ecosystem perspective under a system designed to assess and restrain the impacts of the fishery on the ecosystem”.
