Description of Project:
Poseidon was responsible for preparing a keynote paper for the FAO APFIC Workshop, on tools to implement the strengthening of management in South and South East Asian fisheries. The paper outlines a structured planning process that Poseidon has generated from its fisheries management planning work in the region, leading to the development of fishery specififc Fishery Management Plans,
Poseidon directors also facilitated in the development of a priority list of recommendations on how the use of assessment tools that can be appropriately applied in data poor situations and small-scale fishery that are characteristic of the region and identify the capacity building needs to support this.
The Poseidon work draws from its wide experience in developing Fishery Improvement Plans across regional fisheries in BOBLME and ASEAN countries including Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.
