CFP Reform included the introduction of a discard ban. The proposed regulation enables Member States to select a range of measures to ensure unwanted bycatch is reduced and the full catch is shown to be kept on board (Fully Documented Fisheries).

Services Provided:

Seafish commissioned Poseidon to explore the impact of various discard reduction measures on the UK fleet in a number of key fisheries. A financial model was developed and the consequences of reduction measures (gear development, additional quota purchase/lease, spatial management, etc.) applied to that model. This enabled the most cost-effective suite of measures to be identified in a number of fisheries.
