Cold Storage Capacity and Utilisation in Grimsby UK
and - Project Dates:
March 2004 - July 2004
Description of Project:
The fishing port of Grimsby is currently undergoing something of a regeneration, with developments taking place within the town centre, the docks and in out of town brownfield sites.
Food processing and service sectors within Grimsby are well represented with more than half of these businesses involving fish. The food processing businesses are dispersed throughout the town and the sector may benefit from a concentrated food park development. At the same time the consumable nature of the products produced requires large-scale coldstorage.
The study focused on two areas:
To determine Coldstore Capacity and Utilisation
To examine the Feasibility of establishing a dedicated Foodpark development (or network) within the town
Services Provided:
An appraisal of existing cold storage in the town was completed along with an examination of current and expected utilisation rates across all food sectors, and an investment appraisal for the construction and operation of additional cold storage capacity.
