DG MARE Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (European Commission) - Project Dates:
February 2012 - April 2012

Description of Project:
Poseidon evaluated the Fisheries Partnership Agreement between the European Union and the Republic of Kiribati. The work reviewed the background situation in Kiribati, and tuna fisheries and their management in the Western Central Pacific. It then completed an ex-post evaluation of the current FPA with a focus on value-added and employment benefits to all parties, and the efficiency, relevance, effectiveness and value for money elements of the agreement. An analysis of impacts and an ex-ante evaluation was also completed of a future protocol, considering a range of different options.

Services Provided:
Poseidon provided the two key experts involved in this evaluation, and completed all stakeholder consultations in both the EU and Kiribati.
