An economic analyses of Solomon Island Tuna Fisheries to support improved management of the fisheries. Solomon Is

 - Project Dates:
April 2013 - September 2013

Description of Project:
The study builds on economic analyses and models of Solomon Islands tuna fisheries already undertaken by Poseidon in previous projects funded by MFMR, FFA, and PNA Office. The study will updates economic models using current data and reflect any relevant changes in management of tuna fisheries, both nationally and regionally. This partly provides an economic analysis of the Solomon Islands Government’s policy of increasing onshore processing of tuna and provide advice on implementation of the policy, with an assessment of different options, where appropriate.

The focus of the study is on the sectors, purse seine, longline, and pole and line fisheries that operate in Solomon Islands.
