A global estimation of the volume and value of legally reported tuna transshipments global

Description of Project:
Poseidon collected and analysed data on transshipments reported to RFMOs to generate estimates of the volume and value of transshipment of different tuna and tuna-like species, by ocean basin, gear, flag state, place of transshipment (at-sea or in-port). Estimates were provided for 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2018 to be comparable with estimates previously made and publihsed by Poseidon of the volume and values (first sale and final consumed values) of tuna landings. Additional work was completed to explore methodologies that might be appropriate as part of future studies to estimate volumes and values of illegal tuna transshipments, and transshipments in the NPFC convention area.
