Description of Project:
From 2030 onwards there will be a need to reduce carbon emissions by the Northern Ireland fishing fleet. Between 2024 and 2030 there is an opportunity to define research priorities that will build on the research work to date.

Services Provided:

Poseidon:

Reviewed the research done to date, in the context of the Northern Ireland fishing fleet.

Reviewed the calculation and reporting of fishing fleet emissions

Determined industry needs and research priorities related to fleet efficiency.

Mapped those research priorities to Northern Ireland’s industry and academic expertise.

The result was a Research Road Map to ensure Northern Ireland’s fishing fleet priority research areas are progressed with effective partnerships and without duplication of work being progressed elsewhere.
